Nul-Kryds the danish maritime student association

About us

Nul-Kryds is a student union representing engineering students with an interest in the maritime field at the Technical University of Denmark.

The association is independent and consists of volunteers who organize both academic and social events with the purpose of strengthening the link between students and the industry, as well as helping students in everyday life.

The majorty of marine engineering students at the Technical University of Denmark have been in contact with Nul-Kryds at some point during their studies. The association was founded in 1947 on the occasion of the first NTHS Congress. Nul-Kryds has participated in every NTHS congresses since

Looking at 2024 and 2025 with Nul Kryds for students

New semester is starting and we in Nul-Kryds are excited to start the year welcoming new and old students to a year full of events. The following year will hold various events such as company evenings, field trips, parties and other exciting things.

September 6th – 8th: Fieldtrip to the SMM Maritime fair in Hamburg organized by ShippingLab, Danske Rederier and Danske Maritime, sign up is unfortunately closed.

September 20th: OMT’s Design Cup for maritime students all over Denmark, a sailing day for amateurs as well as the experienced.

September 27th: Maritime Career day at DTU, Organized by Blue Denmark

October 3rd: Welcome social event for new and old maritime students at DTU, visit events to sign up!

October 10th: Company evening regarding classification and other maritime authorities, sign up under events

November 11th: Invitation to participate in GEW fair DK, Fueling the Green & Innovative Future of Maritime

November 19th - 20th 2024: Invitation to participate in NATO Maritime Student Innovation Challenge

January 18th 2025: Christmas lunch (it is a dinner!) a social event where we eat traditional Danish Christmas food, connect, drink and play our one of a kind heeling-game.

February 20th 2025: Intro meeting to our Asia trip in Autumn 2025, show up if you are considering joining

March 20th 2025 : Company evening with the topic of carbon capture, transport, storage and business.

Week 14 2025: The big event of the spring 2025 will be the 76ths NTHS congress which will be in Sweden.

April 10th 2025: General Assembly.

April 21st - 23rd 2025: Study trip to maritime industry in Frederikshavn.

April 29th: Defense day at DTU 17.00 - 20.30

May 16th 2025: OMT Design Cup 2025

June 16th - 18th 2025: The Second annual Danish Student Conference for Engineering and Naval Technology, hosted by the Royal Danish Naval Academy. Signup available now!

Autumn break 2025: in autumn 2023 Nul-Kryds organized, in cooperation with DTU, the Asia trip to South Korea, and in 2025 the next Asia trip will be held, where shipyards and other maritime companies will be visited. Destination is will be Guangzhou in China.

We in, Nul-Kryds, are organizing several events each term for maritime interested students, but we are also using our platform to inform students about events organized by other organizations, to make sure all students can stay up to date with maritime related events. DaSCENT 2025 at the Royal Danish Navy Academy

June 16th - 19th 2025 : 17.00 - 20.30

Invitation to the 2nd annual Danish Student Conference for Engineering and Naval Technology (DaSCENT), whild will include presentations by experts from the Defense Industry, Academia and Navy. During the conference, you will be divided into moderated groups to discuss aspects of the theme, finishing with a presentation on the final day.

Martha Evening - Summer 2025

June 14th 2025 : Annual social summer Event

An unofficial event, but the heart of Nul-Kryds' traditions, where all maritime interested students are invited for a get together to watch the amazing film Martha from 1967. The night always offers food, drinks and a very strict traditions while watching the film.

New maritime Bachelor of engineering line

DTU has established a new program "Maritim Teknik" which we are very excited about as the new line will make the maritime line more visible to the students. At open house we from nul kryds were very happy to see how many intersted guests we had, and how many joined our tour of our marine facilities at DTU. The line will be very similiar to the old "mechanical engineering with maritime specialization", and will have joint classes with the mechnaical engineering students. The line is different as it has more maritime mandatory courses, but still has a few courses of free choice, so each student can pick exactly what direction of the broad indusrtry they find interesting. The courses will be mostly in Ballerup campus, but the maritime courses will all take place in Lyngby.

The annual student congress was in 2023 held in Denmark, and the week was rounded off by a great banquet for both old timers and the new congress.

During the annual NTHS congress for Nordic maritime students, the event was held by the Danish delegation where they, amongst others, visited the shipyard Fayard, where the congress got a tour around the premises.
